Over-exposure to UV light is known to cause serious health effects. What many workers and employers in commercial cannabis growing facilities don't know, is that they may be exposed to harmful amounts of UV light on the job.
The Cascadia 2018 conference (formerly Semiahmoo) brought together researchers and students from UW DEOHS, the University of British Columbia, Oregon State University, Oregon Health Sciences University, Simon Fraser University, and U Regina to share current research related to Environmental, Occupational, and Population Health, with a focus on what these fields of study mean for mental health.
Max Chmielinski, a former ERC trainee now pursuing his PhD, was featured in the Synergist Now blog as part of the American Industrial Hygiene Association's ongoing #IamIH campaign. Max is working with a team of DEOHS researchers to determine the levels of UV radiation exposures among workers in the cannabis industry.
